Tabandeh
Our second stop in Washington was a ten minute drive away to the Mazza Gallerie near Chevy Chase, Maryland. We made our way to the concourse level to meet a very elegant Persian expat named Tabandeh Sizdahkhani. We had once read about her as having been one of the first U.S. store buyers to pick up a little-known line by a designer called Rick Owens. We could see she has remained a great admirer of Rick’s work through the years and also noted the pieces she stocked by Ann Demeulemeester and Herve Leger.
Our primary interest for this visit was to see her jewelry collections as they are widely regarded as one of the largest and most important selections in the country. Unfortunately, her store was being remodeled at the time. She was however, kind enough to take us into the work-in-progress to describe her new plans.
Tabandeh also introduced us to the work of her daughter Samira who has a jewelry line of her own: S13. Samira expertly utilizes a very complex knot-making technique called macrame and incorporates materials such as South Sea Pearls and semi-precious stones. We loved her line so much that we got in touch with her and now represent her in our showroom.

Samira and Tabandeh Sizdahkhani smile for the camera after the reopening of Tabandeh’s store.
Below we have posted a few images from Samira Sizdahkhani’s exquisite S-13 collection:
