Lawrence Covell
After a few days of relaxing and hot air balloon riding in New Mexico, we drove north to Denver where we were to visit two acclaimed high-end retail destinations. The first visit was Lawrence Covell. Here we had the opportunity to meet Cathy Covell, who with her husband Lawrence, started their business just over 42 years ago. She spoke at length about their start as a hippie inspired leather goods shop where they made the products they sold, and about the evolution of the store through the decades. After we finished our espressos in the storefront garden we were given a tour of the store…(sorry about the audio in the garden as there was a water fountain which decided it also had something to add to the conversation).
Meanwhile, Alek’s childhood obsession with a certain TV show from the 80′s led him to have a strange and longstanding hope that Denver might still be populated by large shoulder pad-wearing Alexis and Krystle look-alikes. He was sadly uninformed.
