We didn’t have to drive very far to get to our next store visit. Max, owned by Max Martinez, is also located in Denver’s Cherry Creek neighborhood. In addition to this location, he also has stores in Boulder and Aspen, as well as an outlet store he first opened 25 years ago. From his humble beginnings, Max candidly spoke about the challenges he faced in starting his business without any credit and having once been shut down by the IRS.
Today, his spirits are much higher as the wives of CEOs shop at his stores for Givenchy, Bottega Venetta, Prada etc. Max has made a special point to give back to the community that has supported his businesses: he has raised over one million dollars through his annual Christmas fundraisers for the Volunteers of America’s Brandon Center, a 90 bed shelter for battered women and children.
