Curve, LA
We met Nevena in Paris in 2004. She was super excited about the quirkiness of Risto’s knits; after talking to her and getting to know her better, we found out that she is from Bulgaria, she was very familiar and thus was much appreciative towards the artisan work mixed with the modernity of Risto’s collection. Since then, we have collaborated on many occasions.
Throughout the years of collaborating with her and her amazing ladies, we learned more about her business model. She started in 1997 with the idea to educate people about fashion rather than big volume sales and she ran her store as an art gallery which was very new for LA at the time. This idea brought her much success which allowed her to open Curve stores in New York, and Miami as well.
After all this time, we were finally able to see her original store in LA, which still functions on her initial concept and she still finds joy in educating people to see, feel, and touch rather than shopping online, “it’s all about servicing”, she says. Years after our collaboration, three stores, and a baby boy later, we are pleased to call her our friend.
P.S. Sorry Nevena to spell your name wrong in the video; we are not able to find our video editor, as he is M.I.A.
