Des Kohan, LA

June 8, 2010

“Nothing comes in the store unless we’re obsessed…”, says Desiree Kohan, the owner of the store rightfully named after her, Des Kohan. The store is characteristically located on Miracle Mile in the Art Gallery District in Los Angeles, and at present has been open for a little over 5 years.

The idea that Desiree had when she opened the store was to create a destination for the art-world customer, and her buying still reflects this initial idea. Around 80% of the collections are exclusive to the store which is why she carries a few labels but in-depth. Almost everything on her floor can be connected by a single visual thread which is the clean, architectural and timeless element of the garments.

At present, Desiree has developed a loyal following, and as she told us she dressed only a few celebrities for the current Gala at the Museum of Contemporary Art in LA (MoCA), quelle surprise for LA! of course the rest of the clients were artists, gallery owners, sculptors, and interior designers.

“Clothing is art,” as Desiree says, and she is here to prove it!!!
