Johan Ku

By now, we are known to have talented designers on our roster that are known for their unique design sensibility, as our newest addition does. Born in Taipei in 1979, Johan Ku has had great success since he began his fashion career. He is specifically famous to create sculpture-like silhouettes and unique chunky knitwear. While he was studying for his MA in Fashion at Central Saint Martins, his “Emotional Sculpture” collection won him a Gen Art’s Design Vision Avant Garde award in New York in December 2009.

Yet again, we welcome a new designer that not only creates beautiful clothing, but essentially creates a piece of artwork for everyone to wear. Below are a few images from his runway looks.

Risto Interview in “My Lifestyle News”

This past weekend, Risto had the chance to show his SS12 collection at the Hong Kong Fashion Extravaganza Gala with much success. My Lifestyle News did a quick interview with the designer, discussing his past endeavors, the inspiration for his collection, and the future of the brand.

My initial influences were the realities of common socialistic lifestyle and early pop images on MTV. I went to Duperre School of Applied Arts in 1993 and this enriching experience resulted in initial research of the inner “East-West” balance in which it still quite prominent in my design today.

It all started as a family business and evolved as an onward vision of a group of common-minded individuals. The ethics and aesthetics are based on embracing the traditional and translating it into a modern look. My focus is to offer a story, history and heritage, that is my design philosophy.

My brand opens it doors in my home town Macedonia in 2007. The initial starts was solely dedicated to the ever growing needs of the knitwear, artisan and the cut and sew collection. I dropped the last name in a full collection in 2009 which is now become quite a well received name and successfully showing in New York and other part of the world.

My SS2012 collection inspiration came from an urban girl who is rebellious yet elegant, you will see there are digital flora prints merge with leather and knitwear.

Ella store in Iceland

The new brand to our showroom, Ella recently opened their first store in Reykjavik, Iceland. The store tastefully reflects the type of clothing that is being sold inside. The clean, simple and modern feel to the store is directly based off of their beautifully designed collections, Ella and Ella Comfort. It’s nice to hear that even in these economic times, Ella has opened their store with great success. Here are a few images from the store.

We are proud to introduce our new label Ella – a Slow Fashion brand created by Elinros Lindal and a group of talented women from Iceland who understand and appreciate elegance and quality. The integral parts of Ella are sophistication, respect and responsibility which have made the label very popular in their country. The brand recently opened its first store in Reykjavik to a great success, which is refreshing news to hear in these current economic times.

The collection consists of two lines Ella, and Ella Comfort and they are entirely made in the European Zone. One of the driving forces behind the collection is the idea of how to create modern luxury in a thoughtful way causing least damage to the environment, and considering the impact on workers, communities and ecosystems. It is the opposite of high speed/mass production which makes Ella an ambassador of Slow Fashion. Recently the brand introduced their first perfume as well, and 10% of the sales they donate to UN women.After having such a great start in their native country we are more than excited to introduce the brand to our international clients that we hope will find the collection as enchanting as we do!
